What A Difference Decades Make: Hoover Dam Overspill 1984

The video provided by “SolarSteveW” showed Hoover Dam in June 1983 when water flowed over the spillways. According to SolarSteveW, the only other time Hoover Dam experienced such an event was testing after construction.

SolarSteveW remembers concern that continued upstream flooding would cause the lake level to continue rising, triggering an automatic dump of the spillway gates causing downstream flooding. Fortunately, that did not happen.
