Today kicks off a holiday weekend, and tomorrow kicks off early voting for the 2018 primary. Below, you’ll find everything you need to go out and make your voice heard. Get ready, because democracy is coming.
Wait, there’s an election happening?!
As we’ve been saying here all along, this election will likely be pivotal in deciding Nevada’s future. And yes, that includes this primary.
Our U.S. Senate race and two of our U.S. House seats may very well determine the balance of power in the next Congress. Our new Governor must decide whether to stay the course outgoing Governor Brian Sandoval (R) has set for this state, or chart a new path that may involve a closer relationship with President Donald Trump, or perhaps develop the most progressive state government this state has seen since the time of Governor Grant Sawyer (D) a half-century ago.
How can we vote?
As mentioned earlier, early voting begins tomorrow and continues through June 8. You can vote anywhere within your county of residence, so check the full list of early vote sites available in your area. And if you happen to wait until June 12, Clark County now has vote centers instead of specific precinct locations for Election Day voting.
As for who you should vote for, that’s for you to decide. If you’re still in the midst of figuring that out, check out the full list at the Nevada Secretary of State web site (including judicial candidates) and the full list at Ballotpedia.
Feeling better now? I hope so. Your country needs you. Now get out and vote!
