Weekend Lounge: Deck the Halls

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Even though some parts of the country don’t exactly look like a winter wonderland, that isn’t stopping me from feeling the holiday spirit. Here’s how folks are beginning to celebrate in my original homeland of Orange County, California.

Oh, Christmas tree

Typically, the two largest and most prominent malls in Orange County (Fashion Island in Newport Beach and South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa) get all decked out for the winter holiday season.

However, the decorating doesn’t stop there. Here’s the scene at Downtown Santa Ana, right in the heart of OC and home to dozens of homegrown small businesses.

Wait, does Santa really surf?

And it doesn’t even end there. The lights have also gone up at San Clemente Pier. Hey, why not?

And while the decorations weren’t completely up yet, that didn’t stop me from feeling the warmth at Crystal Cove, a very special stretch of California coast where Newport Beach ends and just before Laguna Beach begins.

OK, so their tree doesn’t go up until this weekend, but did you really think I could get through an OC themed weekend thread without posting some great beach pics?

However you like to celebrate the winter holidays, we hope you enjoy the season.
