Heidi Swank, Nev. District 16 told the Nevada Legislature’s Interim Public
Lands Committee that State Water Engineer Jason King will retire before the 2019 session begins.
King who attended the meeting announced that his deputy team Micheline Fairbank, Adam Sullivan, and Tim Wilson would attend the 2019 legislative session.
King served as State Engineer since 2010. He presided over many contentious hearings and meetings including the Southern Nevada Water Authority applications in Spring, Cave, Dry Lake and Delamar Valleys as well as declaring Diamond Valley as Nevada’s first critical management area, and tackling the over-allocation of water in the Pahrump Valley.
King joined the Division of Water Resources in 1991 as a hydraulic engineer. He served as chief of the water rights section and deputy state engineer before taking on the top job.
