Good Ratings: Bad Idea. Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr’s new show joins Fox “News,” Alex Jones and other ultra-

Rossenne Barr: “Got a chemical peel to look more sexier.

right-wing bigots in aiding and abetting the absolute worst presidency in US history.

Barr, and her TV husband, John Goodman, play and epitomize white, working-class Americans who support Trump.

Dean Obeidallah pointed out on April 1st [i] that both Barr and President Donald Trump share some views in common. Barr has repeatedly shared inflammatory views about Muslims. On her show she equated Islam with Nazism, saying both want “world domination” and the “destruction of all Jews,” Barr has also tweeted about what she calls “Islamic rape pedo culture,” and retweeted memes that gin up fear of Muslims.

Like Trump, Barr has used Twitter to viciously go after those she perceives as enemies, even if the allegations aren’t true. For example, Barr tweeted in 2016 that then-Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, who is Muslim and at the time was married to Anthony Weiner, was a “Jew hater,” adding, “Hillary Clinton’s handler huma weiner is a filthy Nazi whore.”

Barr is reinforcing Trump, and by default, his supporters view of the world. His view: Christians who forgive his adultery are good. Muslims are bad.  Immigrants from south of the border are rapists and killers. A 1,900-mile wall across four southern states is good. Spending between $15 and $23 billion with a maintenance cost of $700 million annually on the wall is also good.[ii] Killing children is bad, but guns are good. North Korans are bad, and nuclear war is good. Fox TV “News” is good, but real journalism is bad.

Barr, like Trump, like conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. In 2012 Jones claimed that the Sandy Hook massacre was a “hoax.”[iii] Both Trump and Barr have appeared on Jones show. Barr appeared on Jones’ show and has shared tweets from his Infowars website, including retweeting his claim that “5.7 million illegals” voted in the 2016 presidential election — her apparent effort to explain why Trump lost the popular vote.

The “Roseanne” star has also been accused of spewing of like Trump making transphobic comments on Twitter.

ABC, who renewed Bar’s show for the second season is apparently taking lessons from Fox “News,” and going for ratings instead of supporting decent public policy.

ABC, Barr, Trump and his supporters are in for a surprise. Today, Black Lives Matter, Immigrant rights matter, gun control matters, Women’s rights matter, Young voters matter, Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) matters, war matters, the environment matters.

Barr, ABC, Alex Jones and Trump only matter as disruptive forces against the dignity and human values.
